Resume Killers – Really

A resume is a summary of your career or if it happens to be your first job applications, a window into your personality that may spell success or disappointment. Many people still base their resume’s from the ones they did the last time they applied for a job(which may be a couple of years ago) without considering the ever changing environment that is the workplace.

Placing too much or too little detail in your resume can be bad for your overall impression and please do leave out the things you did when you were in college. One more thing to avoid is a direct statement that states your preferred salary which is a big no-no when applying for a job. Another thing to leave out would be proprietary information which you may be proud of but may signify a lack of discretion when handling such information. That big project which had you handle corporate secrets should be left at that as a professional courtesy to your previous employer. Plan on that killer smile for the photo you will post on your resume, don’t do it for it may lead to discrimination so simply leave it out.
